Swing Dance May 13

May 10, 2010

The Santa Fe Big Band will perform their third Swing Dance of this year on Thursday, May 13 at Villa East, 301 N. Main Street, Gainesville (formerly Savannah Grande) in a last effort to raise funds to travel to New York City to perform in Carnegie Hall at the DIScovering ABILITIES Conference May 21.

The swing dance will also feature students from Sydney Lanier's music program as they will be performing with Santa Fe's Big Band and with other international programs at the convention.

The swing dance will begin with swing dance lessons from 7 to 7:45 p.m. for those who need a little brushing up. At 8 p.m., the Santa Fe Big Band will play its first swing dance set. At 9 p.m., the Big Band will be accompanied by the students from Sydney Lanier and the two groups will perform selections from their upcoming concert at Carnegie. After the concert, the Big Band will again play swing music to finish out the celebration.

Tickets are $10 at the door. Light refreshments will be provided along with some great entertainment at one of the finest Venues in town. Thanks to Celebrations Catering! Donations will also be accepted as both groups are still doing all they can to raise funds for the trip.

Please come to the swing dance and help us celebrate a wonderful opportunity for a once-in-a-lifetime performance at one of the most well know performance venues in the world–Carnegie Hall!
