SAINTS SEASON ENDS AT THE HANDS OF GULF COAST, 7-0

Lakeland, FL -Gulf Coast CC pitcher Cam Greathouse stifled the defending State Champion Santa Fe batters for nine innings in the second round of the FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII State Tournament, surrendering only two hits in a complete game shutout. The loss ends the Saints season.

Ricky Claudio was the lone bright spot for the SF offense, getting both hits on the day.

Ken Wise started on the mound for the FCCAA #4 Santa Fe and pitched six solid innings. With the Saints down 1-0, the defense broke down in the sixth inning, allowing four runs, three of them coming after a pop up between first and second base fell in with two outs.

Santa Fe finishes the 2010 season with a 26-16 record and a second straight Mid-Florida Conference Championship.

FCCAA #1 Gulf Coast moves on to face FCCAA #7 Chipola College in an elimination game tomorrow at 1:00pm.
