HUNTER SIGNS WITH ROLLINS COLLEGE

Gainesville, FL – Sophomore outfielder Lawna Hunter has decided on a four year school and signed a letter of intent with NCAA Division II school Rollins College, Santa Fe Coach Chris Ahern announced earlier today.

Hunter, a local player from Santa Fe High School in Alachua, will join Coach Michelle Frew and a very talented Rollins College team that is currently 44-4 overall and 23-1 in the Sunshine State Conference.  The Tars recently clinched their second straight SSC title with a three game sweep of Barry University on April 24-25.

A two year starter for the Saints, Hunter hit .366 (52-for-156) her sophomore season with 12 doubles, three homeruns and 30 RBI to help lead the Saints to their sixth straight Mid-Florida Conference title.  As a freshman, Hunter hit .405 (66-for-163), with a team leading 18 doubles and 48 RBI.

“We are so pleased for and proud of Lawna on her decision to attend Rollins”, said Coach Ahern.  “She has been a great contributor on the field the last two years, and has helped guide the team off the field with her leadership as well.  We wish her all the continued success on the field, but more importantly, as a student, she has shown herself to be able to handle anything both in and out of the classroom! We will miss her.”
