"Green" Summer Science and Technology Camp for High School Freshmen

May 3, 2010

If you have a rising high school freshman and they are interested in science and technology, have them apply for Santa Fe College's "Green" Earth/Wind/Fire/Water Summer Camp from June 21 to 25.

This week-long program supports the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines in an interactive environmental camp for rising ninth grade students.

Three teachers will provide educational activities in hands-on format in areas of toxicology, earth and water sciences, meteorology, energy resources and computer sciences. On the final day of camp, students will tour the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. Funding for the program is provided by the Santa Fe College Perkins Initiatives.

Twenty students from Alachua and Bradford counties will be selected to attend the camp. Emphasis will be placed on those students interested in attending a high school science academy (Agriscience, Biotechnology, Computer Technology, Environmental Sciences and Health Academies). The application deadline has been extended to May 30.
