SAINTS SEASON ENDS WITH LOSS TO INDIAN RIVER, 4-3

Auburndale, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (46-9) came out firing, scoring three runs in the first two innings, but two homeruns by Indian River State College in the third inning gave the Pioneers a lead they would not relinquish, knocking SF out of the FCCAA/NJCAA Region VIII State Tournament.

Britany Doty got the scoring started for the Saints in the second inning, singling home Taylor Pangilinan.  Colesa Lazar followed with an RBI groundout to make the score 2-0.

In the third, Gia Tomossone singled a run home to push the Saints lead to 3-0.

Indian River bounced back in the fourth, hitting a solo homerun to get on the board.  Later in the inning, with two out and two on, the Pioneers hit an opposite field homerun, just over the glove of Doty for their first lead of the game.

The Saints loaded the bases in the fifth, but failed to capitalize and were held scoreless the rest of the way.

The Saints end their season with a 46-9 record.
