LAZAR, PANGILINAN AND DOTY NAMED FCCAA ALL-STATE
Gainesville, FL – Three members of the Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe Saints have been honored by the Florida Community College Activities Association as members of the All-State team for their production on the field. Freshman pitcher Colena Lazar made the First Team and sophomore shortstop Taylor Pangilinan and sophomore outfielder Britany Doty were named to the Second Team.
Lazar, a freshman out of Dade City, was named the MFC Pitcher of the Year earlier this week, and continued to pile up honors, this time being named FCCAA First Team All-State. In 2010 she broke the Santa Fe record for strikeouts in a season with 269 and in a game with 18 and no hitters in a season and career, with four. She currently has a 26-2 record, 0.87 ERA, 24 complete games and 10 shutouts. Her 269 strikeouts and 26 wins leads the state.
Pangilinan, a sophomore from Imperial, CA, finished the regular season with a team leading .465 batting average (72-for-155), 17 doubles, seven homeruns and 45 RBI. She slugged .761 and struck out only 14 times all season.
Doty, a sophomore out of Tallahassee, hit .367 (55-for-150) with 14 doubles, two triples, 41 RBI and was third on the team with six homeruns.
