Prepare for “Wow!” at the Digital Media Student Showcase

April 16, 2010

The Digital Media Student Showcase is returning to the President's Gallery for the first time in five years. This annual event showcases the best work by students in the award-winning Digital Media Technology program.

The gala opening and awards ceremony runs from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 29 in the Administration Building at the Northwest campus, 3000 NW 83rd St. Media will include digital art, photography, advertising design, digital video and animation.

“When you see the quality of the work — we, the teachers, are in awe,” said Jorge Ibanez, program coordinator.

This year's students have excelled at their presentations and took home 40 local ADDY awards from the Advertising Federation of Gainesville.

While the show will run through the end of May, the video presentation will only be presented on a large-scale projection screen opening night, along with enhanced sound. Afterward, the video presentations will be viewable on a desktop station until the exhibit closes May 26. Opening night will also be the only night to see graduating students' portfolios.

The event's poster was designed by Magdalena Raszca, whose work will be in the show. She is graduating in the Graphic Design track this semester and received six silver ADDYs in January. She was also awarded a scholarship by the Advertising Federation of Gainesville this spring.
