Santa Fe College Offering Free Event Saturday to Help Young People Prepare for College

April 15, 2010

Giving 10th- and 11th-grade students a head start on the college application process begins with CROP, the College Reach Out Program at Santa Fe College.

CROP is offering a two-hour Junior Seminar to teach students and their families what it takes to succeed in college. Registration and breakfast are from 9:30-10 a.m., and the seminar runs from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 17, in Building I, room 49 at the Northwest campus, 3000 NW 83rd St. The event is free and open to the general public; families are encouraged to attend together; however, please call to learn more about eligibility guidelines for the CROP program.

The Junior Seminar is designed to answer many fundamental questions about college. Learn the difference between a career and a job, college vs. universities, scholarships vs. loans, and the inside scoop on test taking. For families with questions about the college application process or needing tips for successfully getting into college, CROP can assist.

For more information, please call CROP Director Aminah Nichols at 395-5268 or email to aminah.nichols@sfcollege.edu. A flyer about the event, with an agenda, is online: For information on the CROP eligibility guidelines and the ongoing CROP program, please see
