SAINTS SPLIT WITH DAYTONA STATE, 6-0 AND 0-1
Gainesville, FL – Colena Lazar (20-1) continued to dominate on Thursday afternoon, pitching her fourth no hitter of the season against Daytona State College as the Saints (32-6, 10-2 MFC) won the front end of a double header. Lazar was perfect through 5.2 innings before walking a batter in the sixth.
Daytona bounced back to take the nightcap, scoring an unearned run on a throwing error in the sixth inning for the only run of the game.
Santa Fe scored six runs in game one on six hits, four walks and two hit by pitches. Colesa Lazar drove in both of the Saints first two runs on two hits, three scored on walks and Jaimee Vega knocked in the last run.
Colesa Lazar finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Alexis Sowell, Taylor Pangilinan, Gia Tomossone and Britany Doty each had one hit.
In game two, Jasmine Warren (12-4) took the hard luck loss, surrendering one unearned run in the sixth.
The Saints managed only two hits and reached base only four times. Alexis Sowell and Britany Doty had one hit apiece.
Santa Fe will travel to Daytona on Saturday to take on the Falcons in a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
