SAINTS TAKE DOWN LAKE SUMTER FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT MFC WIN

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (16-12, 7-5 MFC) continued their winning ways on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lake Sumter CC Lakers for the second straight day, 12-6.  The win moves the Saints to within one game of first place Central Florida CC (23-12, 8-4 MFC) in the Mid-Florida Conference race.

Steven Ragans started on the mound and pitched six innings to earn the win, allowing only one run on seven hits.  Daryl Barnes, Corey Turner and Jardian Thomas each pitched an inning of relief to close out the game.

The Saints got on the scoreboard first, putting up three runs in the third inning.  Zach Floyd doubled to start the inning, Austin Lawrence walked and TJ Spina homered for the second game in a row, putting SF up 3-0.

Jeff Moyer put things out of reach in the fourth, hitting a grand slam to give the Saints an 8-0 lead.

SF tacked on one run in the eighth on an RBI walk by Jardian Thomas and Austin Lawrence put an exclamation point on the victory in the ninth when he hit a three run homer, the tenth for the Saints against Lake Sumter over the last two days.

Lawrence finished the game 3-for-5 with a three run HR and four runs scored, Brett Bozeman was 2-for-4, Ricky Claudio 2-for-5, Spina 1-for-5 with a three run HR and Jeff Moyer 1-for-4 with a grand slam.
