SAINTS GET TWO MERCY RULE WINS AGAINST CFCC, 9-1 AND 8-0
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (31-5, 9-1 MFC) made quick work of Central Florida CC on Saturday afternoon, dispatching of the Patriots 9-1 in six innings of game one and 8-0 in five innings in game two.
Colena Lazar (20-1) baffled CFCC in game one, surrendering only one unearned run with 14 strikeouts. Taylor Pangilinan hit two homeruns to pace the Saints offense. In her third at bat, the Patriots decided to intentionally walk her to load the bases and face Gia Tomossone. Tomossone made them pay by hitting a grandslam to end CFCC's chances at a comeback.
Alexis Sowell finished game one 2-for-3 with a triple and a run, Gia Tomossone was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and Jaimee Vega was 2-for-3 with two runs.
In game two, Jasmine Warren (11-3) was nearly unhittable, pitching a two hit shutout. Britany Doty ended the game in the fifth with a two run double to make the score 8-0.
Tomossone finished 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI, Pangilinan was 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI and Colesa Lazar hit a three run homerun.
The Saints next doubleheader is at home on Thursday against Daytona State at 2:30 and 4:30pm.
