DOTY NAMED FCCAA STATE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe College's Britany Doty is this week's FCCAA Softball Player of the Week. Doty, a sophomore from Tallahassee, Fla., batted .333 (6-for-18) with three runs scored, one double, two home runs and five RBI last week as the Saints opened Mid-Florida Conference play with a trio of doubleheader sweeps.

After scoring one run against St. Johns River (March 16) and posting a 3-for-6, three-RBI outing against Lake-Sumter (March 18), Doty delivered game-changing hits in both ends of the Saints' March 20 doubleheader showdown with Florida State College at Jacksonville. In game one, she tied the score with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, a game the Saints eventually won in nine innings. Then, in the second game, another seventh inning solo home run, this one of the walk-off variety, gave Santa Fe a 2-1 win and a sweep of the Stars.

For the season, Doty is hitting .349 (29-for-83) with seven doubles, six homeruns and 24 RBI.
