SAINTS WIN IN CONVINCING FASHION OVER EDWARD WATERS, 13-0 AND 12-1
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (15-3) took care of business on Thursday afternoon, winning two five inning games against Edward Waters College.
Colena and Colesa Lazar and Allie Short combined to pitch a one hitter. Colena Lazar (9-0) struck out five batters in two innings of work to earn the win, her ninth of the season.
The Saints exploded right out of the gates for four runs in the first inning. Jaimee Vega and Taylor Pangilinan both tripled, Gia Tomossone (pictured) knocked in the second run of the inning and Britany Doty hit a two run homerun for the 4-0 lead.
SF added five more runs in the second, one on an Alexis Sowell groundout, two on a Pangilinan homerun, one on a wild pitch and the final run on a Tomossone homerun.
In the third inning Pangilinan doubled in a run, Lawna Hunter hit an RBI triple and Tomossone hit her second HR of the game.
Pangilinan finished game one 3-for-4 with a double, triple, HR and four RBI. Tomossone was 2-for-3 with two HR and two RBI and Britany Doty was 2-for-2 with a HR.
In game two, Jasmine Warren (6-2) pitched the first three innings, striking out three and Sarah Swarthout finished the game, pitching the last two innings.
The Saints scored one run in the second inning on a triple by Mandi Brown (pictured), seven in the third on homeruns by Pangilinan and Brown and doubles by Vega, Warren, Tommosone, Doty and Sowell and four more in the fifth, two coming on a triple by Sowell.
Sowell finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI, Pangilian was 1-for-2 with a homerun, Tomossone was 1-for-1 with a double and Brown finished 3-for-3 with a triple, homerun and an RBI.
Santa Fe’s next game is at home on Saturday against State College of Florida at 1:00 and 3:00pm.
