SAINTS TAKE TWO OF THREE IN CLEARWATER
Clearwater, FL – The FCCAA #4 Santa Fe Saints (11-3) continued their weekend road trip on Saturday, playing three games in a tournament in Clearwater at St. Petersburg College.
Undefeated Colena Lazar (7-0) started in the circle for first game against #7 Indian River State College and struck out eight to pick up her sixth win of the season, 5-4.
The Saints produced nine hits in game one, including a 3-for-4 performance by shortstop Taylor Pangilinan. Gia Tomossone finished 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI, Jaimee Vega was 1-for-3 with a run and Colesa Lazar was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In game two, St. Pete College ended Santa Fe's seven game winning streak, pulling out a close 4-3 win. Leadoff hitter Alexis Sowell was 1-for-4 and Colena Lazar finished 1-for-3 with two RBI. Jasmine Warren took the loss despite surrendering no earned runs. All four of St. Pete's runs were unearned.
The Saints bounced back in their third game of the day, and fifth in two days with a 2-0 win over previously undefeated #6 Polk State College who came into the day 12-0.
Colena Lazar started the game in the circle and won her second game of the day and seventh of the season, pitching a complete game shutout, striking out nine. Colesa Lazar and Ashley Peterson had the RBI for SF.
The Saints will have a couple days off before returning to the road for a doubleheader against Tallahassee CC on Tuesday, February 23 at 4:00 and 6:00pm. The next home doubleheader is on Thursday against Edward Waters College at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
