SAINTS GET COME FROM BEHIND WIN OVER PHCC, 7-5
New Port Richey, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (7-5) fell behind in the early going, but fought back to earn their seventh win of the season against Pasco Hernando CC on Friday afternoon.
The 2009 Mid-Florida Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Brett Bozeman, making his first appearance of the season, brought a spark to the offense going 2-for-5 with a double and a triple.
Ken Wise got the start on the mound, but went only three innings, surrendering five runs on four hits with four strikeouts. The Saints bullpen came in and cleaned things up, pitching six scoreless innings. Ory Pitts (2-0) earned the win, pitching 2.1 scoreless innings in relief and Daryl Barnes had another solid performance out of the bullpen, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings.
The Saints got on the board first with two runs in the first on Mike Miranda and Brett Bozeman RBI's. After falling behind going into the fifth, Jardian Thomas (2) hit a two run homerun to pull the Saints to within 5-4.
Santa Fe was finally able to retake the lead for good in the eighth on RBI's by Bryce Johnston, Austin Lawrence and Cory Elasik.
Offensively for SF, Bozeman finished 2-for-5 with a double, triple and an RBI, Thomas was 2-for-4 with a two run HR and Cory Elasik was 2-for-4. The Saints had 12 hits as a team.
SF will travel to Ft. Pierce on Sunday for as double header with Indian River State. The first game is scheduled to start at 12:00pm.
