SAINTS TAKE TWO IN BRADENTON

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (7-2) played very well at the State College of Florida Tournament in Bradenton on Saturday, defeating the host team, SCF 3-2 and Palm Beach CC 9-1 in six innings.

Colena Lazar (4-0) earned the victory in game one, throwing a complete game.  Gia Tomossone provided the offensive spark with her first homerun of the season and Venica Brown and Alexis Sowell also had RBI.  Brown doubled home Jaimee Vega and Sowell knocked in Lawna Hunter.

Jasmine Warren (3-1) was nearly flawless on the mound in game two against Palm Beach, pitching a one hitter, allowing only an unearned run to pick up her third win of the season.

Venica Brown led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a homerun, two doubles and four RBI.  Taylor Pangilinan was 3-for-3 with a HR, two runs and two RBI and Ashley Peterson was 2-for-3 with two doubles.  The Saints ended the game in the sixth inning with back-to-back-to-back homeruns by Brown (3), Pangilinan (1) and Gia Tomossone (2) to force a mercy rule.

Coach Chris Ahern and the Saints stay on the road to play Pasco-Hernando CC in New Port Richey on Friday, February 19 at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
