SAINTS STRUGGLE IN LOSS TO DAYTONA, 89-53
Daytona, FL – The Daytona State College Falcons stayed undefeated in Mid-Florida Conference play on Wednesday night, playing up to their undefeated 7-0 MFC record, defeating the Santa Fe Saints 89-53.
Things got away from the Saints (15-10, 3-3 MFC) early as Daytona controlled the pace of the game from the opening tip.
SF made 5-of-28 (17.9%) shots in the first half, scoring only 15 points in route to a 35-15 halftime deficit.
Daytona kept their foot on the gas and continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring SF 54-38.
“We struggled to score all game and didn't do a very good job playing defense,” said Coach Chris Mowry. “They took us out of everything we wanted to do all game.”
Chad Renfro and Chris Clay led SF in scoring with 12 points a piece.
The Saints will host Mid-Florida Conference rival Central Florida CC on Saturday at 4:00pm.
