LAZAR THROWS NO HITTER AS SAINTS SPLIT WITH HCC, 6-0, 0-1

Tampa, FL – Colena Lazar (2-0) nearly pitched a perfect game in the first half of a double header on Thursday night, surrendering no hits and one walk in a 6-0 win over Hillsborough CC.  In game two, Jasmine Warren (1-1) took the loss after giving up only one unearned run on an error in the first inning.

In game one the Saints (3-2) had the bats going, scoring six runs on seven hits.  Leadoff batter Alexis Sowell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base, Gia Tomossone finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and Britany Doty was 1-for-4 with two RBI.

In the second game, SF managed six hits but couldn’t put enough together to score a run.  Sowell was 3-for-4 and Warren and Colena Lazar each had doubles.  The Saints left seven runners on base in the loss.

Santa Fe plays their home opener on Saturday against South Florida CC.  The double header is scheduled to start at 2:00pm.
