BALANCED SCORING LEADS SAINTS OVER ST. JOHN’S RIVER, 79-65
Palatka, FL – Four Santa Fe (15-9, 3-2 MFC) players scored in double figures as the Saints won on the road Wednesday night against St. John’s River CC, 79-65, to record their third Mid-Florida Conference win of the season.
“It was a good effort by our guys tonight,” said Coach Chris Mowry. “We struggled against their transition game in the first half, but really bounced back with some nice defense in the second half, not allowing as many easy baskets.”
Chris Baez and Iran Hollis led a balanced attack for SF, scoring 13 points each. Marlon Rivera 11 and Chad Renfro 10, also scored in double figures.
Santa Fe led at the half 43-37 and stretched the lead to as many as 20 in the second half before pulling out the 14 point victory.
The win was the second of the season against St. John’s River, who fell to 0-5 in Mid-Florida Conference play.
The Saints will have a week off before traveling to Daytona State College on Wednesday, February 10 to take on the Falcons at 8:00pm. DSC defeated Santa Fe in their only other meeting of the year back on January 23, 62-60.
