MIKULIC HITS BUZZER BEATER TO DEFEAT FSC-J, 67-64
Jacksonville, FL – With the score tied and time winding down, Marlon Rivera drove the ball to the hoop for Santa Fe (14-9, 2-2 MFC) and kicked it out to Branimir Mikulic, who hit a three point shot with 1.5 seconds remaining to give the Saints the Mid-Florida Conference victory over Florida State College-Jacksonville.
SF led at the half 34-28 and were up by as many as nine in the second half before FSC-J came back and tied the score with 51 seconds left. LeVon Hodges rebounded a missed Santa Fe shot with 21 seconds to go to keep possession and set up the game winning shot.
“This was a great win on the road against a very physical and talented FSC-J team,” said Coach Chris Mowry. “Our guys gave a well rounded team effort tonight.”
Chad Renfro led SF in scoring with 14, including three three pointers, Branimir Mikulic finished with 13 and Chuck Ford had nine, with eight coming in the second half.
Santa Fe will travel to Palatka on February 3 to take on St. John’s River CC at 7:00pm. The two teams met on January 16 with the Saints coming out on top 86-70.
