SAINTS WIN BEHIND STRONG EFFORT FROM BARTLEY, 65-54
Gainesville, FL – The FCCAA #7 Santa Fe Saints women's basketball team (9-3) continued their strong play at the Lady Shark Shootout, defeating the host team, Miami-Dade College 65-54 on Saturday afternoon.
Santa Fe jumped out early on the Sharks and never looked back. They built their biggest lead at 21 points with ten minutes to go in the game and cruised to the 11 point win.
"This was a very good road win for our team," said Saints Coach Chanda Stebbins. "We did a nice job this weekend to get two wins."
Lanita Bartley came up big for SF, scoring 26 points to go with six rebounds and three steals. Brandice Howard also had a strong game for the Saints, scoring 14 points with six rebounds.
"Lanita had a great game today," said Stebbins. "She was very aggressive getting to the hoop and finishing. Brandice also played very well inside for us."
The Saints will take some time off for the holidays and return to Gainesville on December 29 and 30 for the Best Western gateway Grand Classic. SF will play NJCAA #8 Pensacola on December 29th at 6:00pm and NJCAA #1 Pensacola on December 30th at 2:00pm.
