SANTA FE AVENGES LOSS TO INDIAN RIVER, 67-59

Ft. Pierce, FL – A week ago the #8 Santa Fe Saints (5-1) suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Indian River, but on Saturday they turned the tables and won on the road, defeating the Pioneers 67-59.

"This was a very good win for our team," said Coach Chris Mowry. "We went on the road for the first time this season and played a solid all around game."

Chris Baez paced the Saints in the first half, scoring 19 points, hitting five three point shots in the process. Along with the solid offense, SFC held Indian River to only 29 points in the period.

The Saints started slow in the second half, but picked up the pace about midway through behind Iran Hollis' nine points.

Despite struggling from the free throw line (10-of-20), Santa Fe was able to hold on down the stretch and pick up a big road win.

Baez led the way with 26 points, Chuck Ford had 16 and Iran Hollis had nine.

The Saints return home on Wednesday when they Brevard CC at 7pm.
