BARTLEY AND THE SAINTS WIN FIFTH STRAIGHT, 67-59
Ocala, FL – Lanita Bartley had her third 20 point performance of the season to lead the defending Mid-Florida Conference champion Santa Fe Saints to their fifth straight win coming against the Tampa Extreme to start the 2009 season.
"This game was a good learning experience for us," said Coach Chanda Stebbins. "We played against a much more mature, physically stronger team. I was happy with the way our players maintained the lead and controlled the game."
Tracie Sneed broke the 20 point barrier for the second straight game, leading all scorers with 21 points to go with five rebounds.
"Tracie had another great night shooting the ball," said Stebbins. "She has played very well to start the season."
Santa Fe led at the half 32-27 and were able to control the Extreme through the second period, holding on for a 67-59 win.
Bartley finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, Letiecia Davenport had 10 points and three steals and Jaysha Russell had five assists.
The Saints next game is against the defending Southern Conference champions, Indian River State College on Friday, November 20. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00pm
