National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Event

October 20, 2009

Santa Fe College is joining more than 1,000 colleges and universities in the United States who recognize the importance of campus prevention efforts addressing alcohol abuse and impaired driving prevention.

Students will get a healthy does of alcohol awareness information from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 in the Oak Grove at the National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Event.

This year's theme is "I Choose...It Starts With Your Decisions." The event will empower students to practice smart, planned-in-advance decision making about social situations involving alcohol.

"Along with the Santa Fe College Police Department and Student Life, the Counseling Center hopes to raise awareness regarding alcohol abuse and impaired driving prevention through our event," said Lara Zwilling, the event's coordinator.

Students will spin the prize wheel, Pledge for Pizza (pledge to be safe and take care of friends in situations where alcohol is involved), experience law enforcement's drunk driving simulator, and more.

Contact Lara Zwilling for details at 395-5495.
