SANTA FE WINS THREE GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND

Gainesville, FL – Coach Johnny Wiggs and the Saints stayed hot with three more wins over the weekend to remain undefeated in "Fall Ball".

On Saturday, the Saints defeated Team Brevard 9-3. SFC benefitted from eight Brevard walks and three RBI by Antonio Sowers. Ricky Claudio, Antwan Brown and Kevin McCoy combined to pitch all seven innings. Game two of the double header was rained out.

On Sunday, Santa Fe took two games from Chet Lemon's Juice, a travel team comprised of top high school talent from around the state of Florida. The Saints took game one 3-0 and game two 4-3.

Gary Merians started game one and pitched three innings, giving up three hits. Morgan McKinney then pitched three perfect innings, and Kevin Welborn picked up the save with one inning of work. Zach Rios, TJ Spina and Jeff Moyer each had a RBI.

In game two Ken Wise pitched three innings and gave up one run on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. Daryl Barnes gave up two runs in one inning of work, Jake Stridfelt and Ory Pitts each pitched a shutout innings and Corey Turner picked up the save after entering the game in the seventh with two on and no outs.

Damon Ming got the Saints on the board early in game two with an RBI single in the first inning. After an unearned run in the fifth, Jeff Moyer singled home two in the sixth for the deciding runs.

The Saints' next game will be on Friday, October 16 at home against the North Central Florida All-Stars at 4:00pm
