SAINTS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH UNF

Jacksonville, FL – The Santa Fe College Saints traveled to Jacksonville on Sunday to take on the NCAA Division I University of North Florida Ospreys, and pulled out a split, taking the second game 6-2. UNF took game one 2-1.

For the second straight year, the UNF Fastpitch team wore pink jerseys in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Coach Chris Ahern and the Saints joined the Ospreys by wearing pink head bands and wrist ribbons as a sign of solidarity in the fight against breast cancer.

Colena Lazar started on the mound in game one and surrendered two runs on only four Osprey hits. The Santa Fe offense had eight hits, including two by Venica Brown. Six other Saints had one hit a piece.

In game two, Jasmine Warren and Colena Lazar combined to pitch SFC to a victory. The Saints hitters pounded out nine hits and six runs. Britany Doty was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Venica Brown was 1/1 with two walks, a double and two runs scored.

Next up for the Saints is a date with the defending SEC champions and NCAA Runner-up University of Florida Gators. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14 at 6:00pm at Katie Seashole Pressley Stadium on the campus of UF.
