Santa Fe College Hosting Cardiovascular Preview Sept. 22

September 22, 2009

Cardiovascular Technology is one of the most exciting and fastest growing fields in health care, with excellent job opportunities and excellent salaries. Join us for the Cardiovascular Preview from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22 in WA-113 to learn about the field and our program.

So, What Does a Cardiovascular Technologist Do?

CVT is a medical specialty dealing with the clinical diagnosis and treatment of patients with three of the most serious health problems in the United States today: heart, lung, and vascular disease.

SFC's program is one of the few of its kind in the country and the only program in the state of Florida that is accredited in all three specialty areas: Invasive Cardiology, Non-Invasive Cardiology (ultrasound), and Vascular Technology. Students who complete the program are awarded an Associate in Science degree in Cardiovascular Technology.

SFC's CT program is five semesters long. The first three semesters are spent in the classroom and laboratory instruction. The student then selects a clinical specialty. The final two terms are spent in clinical rotations in real medical settings, for a total of eight months of clinical practice.
