SAINTS TAKE TWO FROM WORLD OF BASEBALL
Gainesville, FL – After rain washed away the first two games of the Fall, the Santa Fe College Saints took the field Sunday and swept World of Baseball 7-3 and 5-2.
Ken Wise started game one on the mound for SFC and threw two innings, surrendering one run and Daryl Barnes followed him with two innings, giving up two runs. Jake Stridfeldt, Antwan Brown and Kevin Welborn each pitched an inning of scoreless ball to close out the game.
Outfielder Tommy Ferguson was 2-for-4 in the game and outfielder Antonio Sowers was 1-for-3 with an RBI double in the fifth.
Santa Fe took an early lead in game two, putting up three runs in the second and two more in the fourth. Second baseman Austin Lawrence was 1-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, OF Jay Taylor was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI and shortstop TJ Spina finished 1-for-3 with a double.
Ricky Claudio started on the mound in game two and gave up one unearned run in two innings. Matt Clement followed Claudio with two scoreless innings and Corey Turner, Steven Ragans and Kevin McCoy pitched an inning each in the win.
