Gainesville, FL – Former Santa Fe College forward Jake Blankenship has accepted a scholarship offer from Mississippi Valley State and Head Coach Sean Woods for the 2009-10 season.

"In a continued effort to make our program, we were thrilled to find Jake and to have him sign with Mississippi Valley State," said Woods. "He has great potential, good touch and size, which can be an excellent skill set in the Southwestern Athletic Conference."

The 6'9″ Blankenship played one season for Coach Chris Mowry and the Saints, averaging 2.2 points and three rebounds per game. Before coming to SFC, he played for Daytona State College where he averaged nine points and six rebounds per game

MVS is a Division I school located in Itta Bena, Mississippi. The Delta Devils are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference and won the SWAC Tournament Championship in 2008, but stuggled last season, finishing 3-19.

Mississippi Valley Head Coach Sean Woods was a member of the University of Kentucky Wildcats from 1988-92. He is fifth on UK's all-time assist list with 482 and had his jersey retired following the 1992 season.

The Delta Devils will play a challenging schedule to start the year and will take part in the Chicago Invitational on Nov. 27-28 against the likes of Notre Dame, Iowa State, Northwestern, Saint Louis and Liberty.
