CANNON SIGNS WITH FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe centerfielder Brittany Cannon (Florence, SC) has signed a letter of intent with Francis Marion University, a Division II school in her hometown of Florence, South Carolina. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

FMU is coached by Stacey Vallee, who had this to say about the signing, "We are so excited about Brittany returning to Florence and attending Francis Marion," said Vallee. "She may arguably be the most decorated recruit our program has ever signed. Her stats and honors speak for themselves. She will immediately fill our void in centerfield and add power and speed to our lineup."

The Patriots play in the Peach Belt Conference, finished last season 31-19 overall and fell just short of making the Division II National Tournament.

Cannon leaves Santa Fe College as the most prolific offensive player in the history of the program having set records for hits (215), at bats (431), runs scored (159), batting average (.502), doubles (35), triples (25) and stolen bases (101). She is the only player in school history with 200 or more hits.

As a freshman in 2008, she set the season records for hits (115), doubles (23), triples (15), runs scored (85). In 2009 she set the record for batting average in a season when she hit .508.

For her efforts on the field, she was named the FCCAA State Player of the Year in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, a NJCAA First Team All-American both years, the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year both years and Louisville Slugger/NFCA First Team All-American and First Team All-South Region both years.
