Overview

In 1974 the School Board of Alachua County and Santa Fe College's Board of Trustees signed an articulation agreement establishing the High School Dual Enrollment (HSDE) program at Santa Fe College. The purpose of the program is to provide qualified secondary students an opportunity to complete their high school credits and take classes at the college toward their academic and career goals. As an HSDE student, you can work toward your high school diploma, take classes to prepare for college-level work, start your Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree, or earn a certificate in one of the Career and Technical Education areas.

HSDE counselors personally guide you through program and class selection. Through SF's many program options, students can explore their talents and strengths and plan for college majors and careers.

Students accepted into the dual enrollment program need to be motivated to reach their academic goals and demonstrate the responsibility and maturity needed to be successful on a college campus. Students interact on a daily basis with college students and are exposed to the same social and classroom challenges. It is extremely important that students be prepared to do their best since the grades earned in college classes are on students' permanent college transcript.

Student Support Services

Student success is about more than your grade point average. High School Dual Enrollment students enjoy the same individualized support as all Santa Fe College students.

Career Exploration Center

The Career Exploration Center has staff and resources that can help identify a person’s interests, values, personality traits and other relevant factors that can be used to suggest careers that are worthy of exploration. You can also search for colleges, scholarships and potential employers. The center is open to SF students, faculty and staff, and anyone else in the community.

Counseling Center

Need to talk to someone about personal concerns? The Counseling Center provides free short-term, confidential counseling and crisis intervention for SF students. Feeling stressed? Stop by and visit our therapy dogs!

Disability Resource Center

The DRC helps students who need priority seating, alternate testing, sign language interpreters, service animals and more. The DRC’s Spectrum of Success program helps students on the autism spectrum to integrate into the college community and prepare for entering the workforce.

Library and Learning Commons

The Learning Commons has free tutoring for math, science, business, reading, writing and languages. Academic success coaches are available to help with academic and personal goals, like improving time management or strengthening study skills. The Learning Commons is integrated inside the library, where students can reserve study rooms or meet for snacks and coffee at the Coffee 101 Café.

My Brother’s Keeper

Black men face unique challenges as they pursue academic, career and social success. My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) offers academic support and opportunities for personal enrichment and networking.

Student Life

If you want to succeed, get involved! Student Life is committed to creating and supporting opportunities for involvement, leadership and service across the college and the community. Join a club or organization, run for Student Government, or attend one of the numerous social, cultural, diversity or wellness events held throughout the school year.
