Multimedia and Video Production Technology, B.A.S.
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Multimedia and Video Production Technology is a limited access program designed for students who have completed the A.S. Degree in Digital Media Technology at Santa Fe College.
- This degree builds upon the skills learned in the A.S. degree program and focuses on more advanced topics in Digital Cinematography, Cinematic Lighting, Special Effects and Digital Compositing and more.
- Students will produce and assist in production of a variety of projects including short films and/or documentaries, commercial and music videos and special effects workshops.
- Students will also complete a 4-credit hour internship and a 6-credit hour Thesis/Capstone video project prior to graduation.
- Graduates of this program work in the film and television industry, in-house corporate/educational production studios, advertising and production companies and as freelance video producers and editors and more.
- Students who hold a similar A.S. degree from other accredited colleges may apply and may be required to complete a limited number of additional A.S. level courses as prerequisite to be successful in Upper Division courses.
- All B.A.S. degree seeking students are required to complete the same basic requirements as traditional baccalaureate students, including general education courses and demonstration of foreign language competence.
You must first complete the A.S. in Digital Media Technology before applying to the program. You may apply with a similar A.S. degree from another accredited institution. If your A.S. degree is from another institution, you may be directed to complete additional courses in the Santa Fe College Digital Media program to ensure your have adequate skills and prerequisites to be successful in the B.A.S. program. You must have a 2.5 GPA before entering and contact the program for application details.
In the application you must provide a portfolio or examples of video work, complete a Letter of Intent and provide 3 letters of recommendation from at least one college faculty member and your choice of other faculty, work/internship supervisors or co-workers.
