Endowed Funds / Memorials

Endowments ensure that Santa Fe College can continue to transform lives and serve families in Alachua and Bradford Counties by providing a sustained, reliable source of funding for students, programs, and classroom facility upgrades. In addition to incentivizing students to continue their path to a brighter future, the consistent income stream provided by endowments helps attract top faculty to teach at Santa Fe College. They also enhance programs enjoyed by the community such as the arts, Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, and the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium.

For donors, endowments can serve as a lasting personal legacy or to honor a loved one with an enduring fund that will benefit today’s students and future generations to come. Endowments can be established to enhance the causes that donors care about and create an investment that will grow with investments and future donations.

To learn more about establishing an endowed fund, please contact the Office for Advancement at 352-395-5200 or foundation@sfcollege.edu.

Bequests

One of the simplest and most popular ways of supporting Santa Fe College is by leaving a bequest gift in a will or estate plan. Many donors establish endowments to honor the memory of a loved one or to support a cause or passion they are dedicated to.

Bequest gifts can include cash, securities, real estate, or personal property. A donor may designate a specific amount, a percentage of the value of the estate, or the residue of the estate (the remaining value of the estate after all other disbursements are made). Also, a charitable donation through your estate may reduce estate taxes.

The Santa Fe College Foundation can offer sample bequest wording to assist in an estate gift to benefit our college community. Each individual situation is unique. If a bequest gift is of interest, please contact the Office for Advancement at 352-395-5200 or foundation@sfcollege.edu.

SF Employee Payroll Deduction

Payroll deduction is an opportunity for SF employees to provide a reliable base of support for college programs through convenient automatic payroll deductions. Donors may increase, decrease, or stop contributions at any time.

Instructions

  • Log into eStaff
  • Click on My Information > My Documents > Public Documents > Foundation's Forms
  • and then choose among the various funds.

Stocks and Securities

Donating appreciated securities – stocks and bonds- can be more tax efficient than giving cash. Donating securities directly to the Santa Fe College Foundation qualifies as an income tax deduction for the full market value without paying capital gains tax. If you were to sell the securities BEFORE making the donation, you would have to pay tax on capital gains.

If you own securities in a brokerage account, they can be electronically transferred to the SF Foundation. Please contact our Merrill Lynch representative to arrange for the transfer:

Corporate Matching Gifts

Many employers will match any charitable contributions made by their employees (or in some cases retirees as well). Ask your employer if they have a gift matching program and follow their instructions. This could easily double or triple your donation!

Real Estate

An outright gift of real estate can provide several benefits to a donor. It provides an income-tax deduction for the property’s full fair market value and avoids capital gains taxes on the property’s appreciation.

Gifts of real estate can also be part of a bequest in a donor’s estate plan.
