Puga Pied at SF Fundraiser for United Way
December 3, 2018
December 3, 2018 – During the month-long Penny Wars competition at Santa Fe College, students and staff competed in a fundraiser for the United Way of North Central Florida by putting money in jars representing either the student team or the staff team. As has happened in years past, a member of the student body and a member of college administration put their reputations (and faces) on the line, by volunteering to represent their side in the pie-in-the-face finale for Penny Wars. This year, SF Student Body President Alejandro Puga represented the SF students, while Vice President for Advancement Chuck Clemons represented the staff.
Over the course of Penny Wars, $333.00 was raised for the United Way, and on Monday afternoon in the Building S Breezeway, results were announced and for the second year in a row, the staff of SF retained their championship from a year ago and defeated the students.
Student Body President Puga took the pie-in-the-face from Vice President Clemons, and the staff hopes to continue their winning streak next year (sorry students!)
The entire college community should be proud of their efforts to raise funds for the United Way of North Central Florida. SF full-time employees can still make donations to SF's United Way campaign this year and have an opportunity to win an iPad Mini. To be included in the SF iPad drawing, which will be held Friday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m., return your SF Payroll Deduction Donation Pledge Forms by Thursday, Dec. 6, at 1 p.m. to Ramona Mount in F-041.
You should have received the United Way Pledge Form in your campus mailbox. If you need another Pledge Form, please go to Ramona's office to complete this form and have it submitted on time to be included in the iPad drawing. Pledge Forms must be renewed each year for payroll deduction.
SF employees can also make one-time online donations on the secure United Way website at https://www.unitedwayncfl.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=1. Please write "SF" in the "Notes" section to denote it's for Santa Fe College's United Way Campaign.
