Next SoTL Workshop Set for November 9

November 5, 2018

November 5, 2018 – The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) is holding monthly workshops that will help improve Santa Fe College faculty members' ability to teach today's students.

The workshops will be held Fridays from noon until 1:50 p.m. in Building P, Room 164 on the following dates:

  • November 9
  • December 7

The workshops will be held in two sessions. The first session, SoTL Learning Community, will begin at noon. These workshops, led by Steve Grosteffon, will challenge you to discover how the power of systematic reflection on your practice can help you continue to grow and learn by making use of your own experiences. Join colleagues to study teaching and learning while engaging in productive inquiry and dialogue. Learn through reading, writing, discussion, observation, and reflection with peers.

The second session is an SoTL Forum that begins at 1 p.m. and will be led by Leslie Rios. Attendees to this session will be guided through the steps of developing a SoTL project, which involves an ongoing cycle of systematic inquiry using discovery, observation, reflection, and evidence-based methods to research effective teaching and student learning. In SoTL, we have the opportunity to bring our private practice of inquiry into a supportive community for systematic exploration, reflection, and application.
