October 8, 2018

October 8, 2018 - Members of Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami (DDTM), a new contemporary ballet company, will visit Santa Fe College (SF) as part of the college's Master Artist Series. These professionals will teach a master class, hold a question-and-answer session for SF dance department students and will instruct hundreds of young dancers from throughout Florida who will be on campus for the Florida Dance Association's Young Dancer Workshops.

As part of their residency, DDTM will give a public performance at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, in the SF Fine Arts Hall.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $9 for seniors, children and University of Florida students; and free for SF students, faculty and staff with valid SFID. For ticket information, call the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181 or visit the Fine Arts ticket website at sfcollege.edu/finearts.

The New York Times described Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami as "athletic, energetic, sexy" and wrote that they "will prove a valuable addition to South Florida-indeed, to American ballet."

Founded in 2016 by former Miami City Ballet Principal Dancers Jennifer Kronenberg and Carlos Guerra, DDTM reflects Miami's Latin flair in its professional collaborations with local and performing artists from abroad, its apprenticeship program for advanced pre-professional students and its youth outreach programs.

"I've known Jennifer and Carlos for a while and they are very fine artists," said SF Fine Arts department chair Alora Haynes. "Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami is what today's ballet company should look like! They are taking classical ballet training into the 21 century with new music, new ways of partnering, and changing, evolving traditions.
