Santa Fe College Emergency Medical Services Team Takes State Awards at ClinCon 2018

July 25, 2018 – Santa Fe College's Emergency Medical Services Team won several awards at ClinCon 2018, the state's premier EMS Conference. ClinCon provides high-quality education to EMS professionals by integrating pre-hospital care research and cutting-edge clinical practice. ClinCon also offers emergency medicine professionals an all-encompassing educational experience that focuses on strengthening practical skills and enhancing clinical knowledge in order to provide the highest quality of care to their patients. During the conference in July, SF educators Louis Mallory, Phillip Borum, Jon Duff and Steve DeBono were awarded for their excellence.
Louis Mallory was awarded the EMS Educator of the year by the Florida Department of Health Emergency Medical Services. Mallory, the program director for SF's Emergency Medical Services Programs, was recognized for assuming a leadership role in the field of EMS education and making a positive contribution to EMS education in the state.
Phillip Borum, assistant professor and lead paramedic instructor for SF's EMS programs, was awarded the Paramedic Instructor of the Year award.
Jon Duff received the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Instructor of the Year award. Duff is an assistant professor and lead EMT instructor at SF.
Steve DeBono was the recipient of the EMS Preceptor of the Year award. DeBono is a paramedic/preceptor for Alachua County Fire Rescue and precepts SF's EMS program students in the clinical field/ambulance setting.
