FSC-J Defeats Women's Basketball for Third Time This Season, 70-54

February 8, 2014

The Florida State College-Jacksonville Blue Wave have had the Santa Fe Saints number this year, defeating them three times, including 70-54 on Saturday afternoon in Gainesville.  Two of the three wins came on SF's home court.

The Saints (9-15, 4-5 MFC) controlled the first half and led 34-27 at the break.  The Blue Wave came out of the locker room on a mission and led from the outset, scoring the first 12 points of the half to grab a 39-34 lead, one they would not relinquish.

Desa'Rai Shaw stopped the FSC-J rally with a layup at the 14:27 for the Saints first second half basket, but it didn't slow down the Blue Wave.  Florida State College used their full court press and up-tempo style to slow the Saints down, holding them to just six made baskets in the second half.

FSC-J outscored the Saints 43-20 over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the 16 point win.

Santa Fe turned the ball over 28 times and made just 34.5% of their shots and just 16.7% of their three point attempts.

Jocelyn Mousty led Santa Fe with 21 points, and Jaquasha Sesler added eight points and seven rebounds

The Saints will have a chance to bounce back on Wednesday, Feb. 12 in Ocala against the College of Central Florida.  The two teams tip off their third meeting of the season at 6 p.m.
