SF MEN'S BASKETBALL

Winter Haven, FL – The FCSAA ranked #3 Saints led by only two at halftime on Tuesday night against Polk State College, but pulled away in the second half for a 65-48 win.  The victory moves Santa Fe to 9-0 on the season and the Eagles are now 3-4.

SF had a 28-16 lead in the first half and was poised to run away with the game but a 10-0 run to end the period pulled Polk two within two at the break.

"They really hurt us on the offensive glass with their rebounding," said SF Coach Chris Mowry.  "Eleven offensive rebounds is way too many to give up, especially in one half.  We did a much better job in the second half limiting them to just two"

The second half was all Santa Fe as the Saints pulled away on the strength of the outside shooting from Jonathan Hood and Chad Milliken.  The two combined for eight three pointers.

SF was stellar once again on the defensive end, holding the Eagles to just 22 points over the final 20 minutes and 32% shooting for the game.

"This was another good win for our team over a quality team," said Mowry.  "Polk is consistently one of the better teams in the state year in and year out and we did a nice job containing them tonight."

Jonathan Hood lead the way for SF with 17 points, Reggie Hart had 12, and Chad Milliken 10

The Saints will look to improve to 10-0 when they visit Pasco-Hernando CC on Monday, December 2 at 7:00 PM.
