SERVE For Veteran Students
Overview
What is the SERVE Student Support Services Program? Student Support Services (SSS) at Santa Fe College is a program designed to help students succeed by assisting them in navigating the different aspects of college life. As an SSS Scholar, you will have a designated academic coach who can help you with academic inquiries, applying for financial aid, free tutoring, personal mentoring, transfer assistance or connecting you with adequate resources. The goal of SERVE is to help qualified veterans achieve success at Santa Fe College. Student must be a U.S. Military veteran whose discharge was other than dishonorable and meet all the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility Requirements for SERVE
- Be a U.S. Military veteran who either:
- Served at least 181 consecutive days on active duty or
- were activated from a reserve component of the Armed Forces for more than 30 days.
- Be a citizen or national of the United States or meet the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance.
- Be enrolled at Santa Fe College or accepted for enrollment for the next term.
- Attend a mandatory orientation at the beginning of the term.
- Not have received a degree (A.A./A.S. or higher).
Meet one or more of the following criteria
- Income Eligible As established by the Federal TRIO Programs current guidelines.
- Registered With the Disabilities Resource Center Students with a physical or learning disability.
- First-Generation College Student Neither parent earned a four-year college degree.
- Evidence of Need for Academic Support to Pursue Post-Secondary Education Program Successfully Determined by SSS Academic Coach during application review.
